                                                                                                                      Bulletin Vol. V111 # 1

Date: January 1, 2013

Happy New Year!  Let me thank God and all the good people like you who made 2012 beautiful for our Parish. I appreciate all the good works you have done for the growth of our Church. I pray that you be blessed with faithful and fruitful year ahead.

How to build confidence (contd.)

We are in the New Year with great dreams and plans. To make 2013 beautiful and successful, we have to work hard with confidence and Grace of God. In our previous bulletin ( November, 12 ) , we saw one of the four ways to build confidence. Today let us see the other three.

2. Make life systematic: Personal discipline is the backbone of achievement; without it we become lost in half forgotten obligations, remain mediocre and uncertain. Make a programme for daily life – rising, prayer, meals, work, revise, play, sleep etc. and follow it strictly. Find out the aims of life; and the ways and means to acquire them. Evaluate it now and then. Remember the old saying “sow a thought and reap an action; sow an action and reap a habit; sow a habit and reap a character; sow a character and reap a destiny.”

3. Cultivate a natural relationship: A woman once said “I can’t get along with the people; I feel the world is against me.” Why she feels so? The embarrassment and fear she experienced in her past life became the pattern for her life. Even after so many years, she meets the people as if they are cruel towards her. Many people in fact, intend to be friendly by mingling and mixing with them. Some people appear friendly, may not be really so. They may be afraid of you, or they may be immersed in troubles of their own. If you can show good humor, you can win their confidence.

4. Cultivate warmth (generosity) in your personality: Remember that the other person also has his own problems. If you want his confidence, become interested in him and in his concerns. People are very human; more warmth you display, the more confidence you will win. Cultivate a kindly brand of humor. Recognize and appreciate others of their little things; and you will be rewarded a thousand fold. Sincerity, humor and affection must be in your personality. Then you will think that you are wanted, needed and you are a must for your family and for your society.

“My Grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness…” According to St.Paul, he was weak, but he was strong and he could do everything with the Grace of God. (2Cor.12, 8-10).
